Cross cultural competence is described at a graduate level as the ability to operate effectively within a discipline context in a socially diverse global environment (CQUniversity, 2010)
University is a socially diverse global environment. Working in collaborative teams requires cross cultural competence. My life skills prior to university have also assisted in building this employable skill as seen on my current CV.
I have experienced the cultural diversity of a 21st century classroom as a learning manager and studied Managing Diversity through CQUniversity. This course has informed me of the pedagogy and policies that are an integral part of cross cultural competency. I have also completed a Crossing Cultures awareness professional development course to extend my professional skills in this competency.
I have evidence of this in a professional development certificate; Crossing cultures, The Big Picture, A Hidden History from CQUniversity.
As stated by Cecily Knight in comments on an assessment task " your experiences of living in different social contexts have been important in shaping who you are as a teacher" (Knight, personal communication, 2011)
